Another birthday is rapidly approaching, and hearing myself tell another 40-something "we must be getting old" after we mutually agreed the music at the Elks was a bit loud was something I admitted a bit ruefully, since the bass guitar player is a high school classmate of mine.
I don't mind getting old - between the alternative and futility of railing against that which I can't change - it'd just be too much work. And there are advantages (more on that later).
In any event, it got me to thinking that it's time I stopped ignoring blogs and figured out what they are and perhaps even start using one. I love the Internet. Love the ease and convenience of shopping from my armchair. Appreciate email's ability to let me stay in touch with friends who are thousands of miles away. Am not too thrilled that my kids seem to live on Facebook but think it's pretty cool (that and UTube). Have been an ebay fan for a decade...but only last week actually pulled up a blog - and then it was more or less by accident.
...and so I Googled "blog;" read what Wikipedia (another really wonderful resource) had to say and chose the Google blog-maker...
I have an ulterior motive. I'm the marketing director for a local community bank. (I'm the collection manager too, but that's another story, eh?). While the opportunities are abundant, they come with the challenge of choosing wisely, implementing quickly, and finding the right touch for each of our nine locations - several of which are not only in different counties, but in different economic areas (urban v. rural) as well.
With an exceptionally simple and functional online banking site and plans to update our webpages, I know it's time that I become a lot more 'net savvy.
So I have a blog. I'm looking forward to learning more about it all.
